American Idol 7's Amanda Overmyer

It's hard to find a favorite in this season's American Idol. They're right to publicize that there is a lot of talent in this batch. After giving the spotlight to Ramiele Malubay, Danny Noriega, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns, here I am again finding another favorite: Amanda Overmyer, the rock and roll nurse who can chop the chops off Janis Joplin.



Her appeal is a little enigmatic but safe. She seems to me saccharine underneath all the make-up and hair coloring, kinda like the friend who's always critical and who deosn't like to be hugged or show affection but whom you know cares just the same.



Most of all, she can sing, and carries a voice that isn't pretentious like most rock & roll wannabes. I loved how she rocked this rendition of "Light My Fire." She didn't even have to pop a vein in her forehead.
