I am liking this set of auditions which includes rumored Filipinos Danny Noriega and Ramiele Malubay. The bit by Michael Johns singing "Come On Baby Light My Fire" is really good.

Frankly, lol, I actually just looked up to see if he is half Filipino because he looks Happa and Noriega sounds Spanish...which, yeah, most Filipino last names are. How do I know (aside from history dictating the liason with Spain and the Philippines)? Both my sisters in law are Filipina and their last names are Spanish: Fernandez is one of them.
I also have a Happa nephew and trust me, he looks a lot like Noriega.
**The real thing I don't get is why anybody would be insulted by someone assuming or wondering if Noriega is part Filipino. Perhaps I don't get it because I'm not Filipina, Mexican, Spanish, etc.
FYI: Happa from what I hear is the term for half White, half Filipino. Plus, I meant to say my sisters in law's maiden names were Spanish (since they took my brother's last names) :D
hapa comes from "half a" It refers to anyone who is half-Asian. It is not exclusive to Filipinos.

Hapa is a hawaiian word which means "part", or "half". It is also the name of a hawaiian band.

Danny is the son Manuel Noriega of Panama married to Kahana Muko of Guam which is half Mek tribe of new Zealand. Quarter blood of Hari Humabon of Mactan, Cebu.
Manuel Noriega is half Masai and 1/4 Fujiean decent and a distant cousin of James Brown. I hope this helped the confusion.

I agree. When Filipinos mix with any nationality, they are beautiful. My husband is 1/2 Norwegian and 1/2 Filipino and has blonde hair and blue eyes and is 6'6". I'm 100% Filipino. Our son is gorgeous! He is 3/4 Filipino and looks mestizo. So you can't say anyone "looks" like a certain nationality.
Is David Archuleta also a Filipino-American? That is the question. If he does then hurray to all Filipinos! We have Ramielle Malubay and David Archuleta bagging for the coveted American Idol 7 title!

All I know it that having pride is perfectly alright but only if done in a respectful and classy manner. Second of all Filipino or not we are talking about the X factor here...It so happen Ramiele is Pinay. "We are supporting her all the way in North America bec. she has a great talent". On a live chat on Stickam someone asked danny if he is part filipino or asian and he said that he wasn't, he said he is mexican american. Whoever said that hispanics are ugly is retarded because hispanics have the most variety of all the races in the world (criollo, mulato, meztiso..etc) as we can see this clearly in american idol with Jason Castro (colombian parents), Danny Noriega, David Hernadez and Syesha Mercado. Ramiele Malubay did not make it to the TOP 8 for AI Season 7. I was deeply sad because watching her crying with Brooke White, and Kristy Lee Cook with her. It is too emotional for us here in North America tonight. But I'm for sure this is the beginning of Ramiele Malubay career-life's journey . And she really appreciates our heritage and culture to the whole world. And for that reason I'am very proud of her. She is very loving, sweet person that everyone gravitate to her.

Second of all, last names do not matter whether you are filipino or not, people may undergo last name changes, thus not carrying their original last name, plus are you so dumb to not know that there are hundreds of spanish last names in the philippines? Hello the Spaniards did colonize in the philippines ages ago. One more thing, the term HAPPA does not necessarily mean WHITE & FILIPINO.
