Nigel Lythgoe Says "David Cook Needs a Personality", Disses Bush
American Idol producer and So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe, in an interview with OK!, says David Cook could make it big like alumnus Chris Daughtry if only he gets some personality. “He can certainly sing – and I’d like to see a bit more personality when he’s singing,” he said. “And that was the only thing that I think our finalists lacked a little bit this year, was more charisma.”
After calling David Cook lacking personality and uncharismatic, he the proceeds to reveal that American Idol was coerced by the White House to give President Bush an appearance on Idol Gives Back. Apparently, the show’s producers were disappointed with President Bush’s efforts to combat the poverty the show was addressing that it would be a shame to put him on the show. “We didn't ask the President this year to say anything because we are all a bit embarrassed about him," says Lythgoe. "The office insisted that, because the [primary] candidates were on it, the President would like to come on and say ‘thank you.’"
To compensate for the US President's shortcomings, Nigel Lythgoe reveals other efforts to fight poverty. He says that he's going to make So You Think You Can Dance's live audience donate canned goods for the program in exchange for an admission ticket. Hopefully, Lythgoe's efforts will end hunger the world over so that they may stop worrying about their basic needs and watch Lythgoe's show instead.
And the colonial enterprise continues in the form of charity.
